We Already Ship East of Alberta. We Just Don't Have You Yet.
Shaly Foods Inc. is a BC based wholesale importer with direct supplier relationships in Egypt, Turkey and the United States. Freight already runs east of Alberta on two different lanes, and they are not interchangeable: refrigerated LTL and full pallets on scheduled Prairies runs into Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and standing volume accounts into Ontario and Quebec. No named account in any of those provinces yet, which is exactly what this page is for: Persian, Arab, Afghan and Turkish grocers and food service kitchens in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Toronto and Montreal carrying specialty produce their current supplier doesn't.
What's true about the Prairies and Eastern Canada right now
What we bring
Direct sourcing in Egypt, Turkey and the United States, mangoes, sour cherries and Persian grocery lines mainstream distributors don't carry. Refrigerated freight to the Prairies and standing volume-account freight to Ontario and east, both already running today.
What we don't have yet
No standing account in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario or Quebec. No local warehouse or pickup point east of BC. No published lead-time chart for any of these lanes, and no French-language site or sales process.
The gap we'd fill
Specialty Persian, Arab, Afghan and Turkish produce that a general wholesale distributor either doesn't stock or stocks inconsistently. In Quebec specifically, the Middle Eastern grocery distributors already serving the province are packaged and dry-goods importers, not fresh produce.
How this would start
Depends on the lane. Manitoba and Saskatchewan start with a trial order on the next scheduled Prairies run, no standing commitment either side has to make up front. Ontario and Quebec start at standing volume-account size, because that lane is built for consistent freight rather than one-off pallets.
Two freight lanes east of Alberta
Manitoba and Saskatchewan are reached by refrigerated LTL or full pallets from Vancouver on scheduled Prairies runs. Ontario and Quebec are a different fit: standing volume accounts with larger, more consistent freight rather than an occasional pallet. Ask for the current schedule and lead time when you request pricing, since both depend on volume and season.
Do you already have customers in the Prairies or Eastern Canada?
Not yet. Shaly Foods' accounts are concentrated in Metro Vancouver. Everything east of Alberta moves on freight that already runs for other reasons, which is why an account there is possible today rather than something to wait for. Being first in a province is not a disadvantage: it means the first order shapes what gets loaded on that lane.
How does an order actually reach Winnipeg, Saskatoon or Regina?
Refrigerated LTL or full pallets out of Vancouver on the same Prairies lane already serving Alberta. Ask for the current schedule and lead time when you request pricing, since both depend on volume and season rather than a fixed weekly slot.
Is Ontario and Quebec the same lane as the Prairies?
No, and this is the part worth getting right before you order. The Prairies run takes pallets and part-loads on a scheduled basis. Ontario and east runs as standing volume accounts, which means larger and more consistent freight rather than an occasional pallet. A buyer in Montreal and a buyer in Regina are quoted differently for that reason, not because of the distance alone.
Is the site or the sales process available in French?
Not yet. The site currently runs in English, Persian, Arabic and Turkish. No French translation exists today. Ask directly if this matters for your account and it'll be answered honestly rather than assumed.
Is there a minimum order this far from Vancouver?
Yes: $300 to $500, at the higher end of that range given the freight distance. Shaly Foods sells by the case and the pallet, mixed across the range on one account, so it isn't a fixed single-SKU minimum.
How do I get current pricing?
Pricing isn't published, since the line sheet changes weekly with the season and shipping schedule. Request the current price list through the contact form and Shaly Foods will send what's actually landing, with pricing, usually the same business day.
